Aquafresh iso-active® removes significantly more bacteria*
[Bosma et al, 2008]
Subjects
- Aquafresh iso-active® was compared with ordinary toothpaste* in an examiner-blinded randomised, crossover study of 34 healthy adults.
Method
- Subjects brushed with a weighed dose of paste and expectorated slurry at 30 and 60 seconds; the volume of foam produced was measured immediately.
- Volume of debris was calculated by weighing a measured portion of the sample before and after steam drying.
- Bacteria (total anaerobic bacteria and VSC-producing bacteria) were counted using appropriate selective media.
Results
- Aquafresh iso-active®:
- – removes significantly more bacteria from the oral cavity (p<0.0001) (see Figure 1).
Conclusion
- Aquafresh iso-active® foaming gel:
- – is proven to remove significantly more anaerobic bacteria and VSC-producing organisms than ordinary toothpaste*
- – has an activated foam formulation which generates twice the volume of ordinary toothpaste*, spreading ingredients around the mouth and rinsing clean away.
* Study compared Aquafresh iso-active® with a commercially available triclosan-containing gel dentifrice.
