IADR/CED Symposium Highlights: Addressing Oral Malodor
Thessonliki in Greece played host to the International Association for Dental Research Continental European Division (CED) & Israeli Division (ID) Congress in September 2007. Access the latest thinking in addressing oral malodor presented at the congress.

The congress was opened by Professor John Clarkson, Dean of Trinity College Dublin Dental School & past IADR President, who highlighted the quality of life issues for oral malodor sufferers. A series of presentations followed from dental professionals and clinical scientists, which focussed on different aspects of oral malodor .
The presentations included: a review of oral malodor ; the first ever microbial mapping of the tongue surface; evidence on the importance of regular tongue cleaning; discussion on the role of metal ions in neutralising oral malodor ; a novel biological model to establish clinical relevance of in-vitro data for oral malodor studies; the results of studies comparing Aquafresh iso-active® to an ordinary toothpaste in reducing oral debris, bacteria and malodor ; and the novel technology behind Aquafresh iso-active®'s gel-to-foam action.
